Removing downloaded files

1 - If you are trying to rid yourself of the files you have downloaded, then just DELETE them. It sounds like you're trying to UNINSTALL them.

2 - If you're trying to rid yourself of applications you have installed, then you're right to try to UNINSTALL them, through the O/S interface. Assuming Windoze(tm), that, as you likely know, is through Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs (or some minor variation). You will get the message you provided if:
a - the installation is corrupt, and the "install.log" file has been deleted (this happens for several reasons, but often because the user has deleted the application files, before running the UNINSTALL)
b - the installation is not a "real Windoze(tm)" applicaiton, and does not create an "install.log" (this happens if it's an old DOS appl'n, like a game).

The "fix" is to just delete the application's folder, and all of its contents. You may have to go in manually to the Start Menu, etc., to remove references there, and maybe sweep the Registry with a Search in good old regedit.

Sometimes the unistall program gets corrupted, the best you can try is try to install it again, it sometimes works, then once it is installed try to remove it from Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, it happens because there is a file call install.log that can be either corrupted or was deleted. If this doesn't work, go to the registri and delete all the entries that refers to this program, the just delete the program.
I Hope it helps
