Removing Norton AntiVirus went seriously wrong

by pellegr1 . Updated 17 years, 10 months ago

While trying to remove Norton Anti-Virus from a P4 PC running XP Pro, I now have it to the point where it will not boot. I used a Dos boot disk and the C: drive is not recognized. The ADD-Remove feature of XP in Control Panel was grayed out. Symantec’s remove tool on their site didn’t work either. This is a validated copy of the software, but I don’t have the DVD. I am going to put the hard drive in another PC as a slave to see if it works, but I think it will because it is fairly new. Any suggestions? I no longer care for Norton and wanted it off the PC and no software should be this hard to remove.
