I want to eliminate the Quicktime plug-in from Netscape 4.76. Instead of the desired Wangimg application, Quicktime opens as the viewer when I attempt on thet web to open any '*.tif' file... and fails to show the file. If you cannot tell me how to remove the association of Quicktime with 'tiff' files, then please tell me how to remove the Quicktime plug-ing entirely. I can do without it.

You can change the program associated with tif files. Open windows explorer, select "View", then "Folder Options", then "File types". You can scroll down to TIF files and EDIT the associated OPEN program from there.
You can also do this in Netscape by going to "Edit", then "Preferences", then "Navigator", then "Applications". Your TIF document will be listed there.
This respondent?s first answer is already in effect on my system. Wang Imaging is registered to open and does open TIF [TIFF] files not run on the web.
I cannot execute this respondent?s second answer. Under Applications both "TIFF" and "TIFFImage" are listed. Everything looks fine with the "TIFF" application as it is handled, as desired, by Wang Imaging and New Type, Edit, and Remove are all options available to me with it. "TIFF Image," however, is handled by Plugin, and the option available to me is New Type. The "TIFF Image" application can be neither Edit[ed] nor Remove[d]. Thus, this does not solve my problem of removing the unwanted plugin.
