Removing Quicktime Plug-in from Netscape

By Mcraig ·
I want to eliminate the Quicktime plug-in from Netscape 4.76. Instead of the desired Wangimg application, Quicktime opens as the viewer when I attempt on the web to open any '*.tif' file... and fails to show the file. If you cannot tell me how to remove the association of Quicktime with 'tiff' files, then please tell me how to remove the Quicktime plug-ing entirely. I can do without it.

Try uninstalling from Start-->Programs,if it is listed under programs it will have a sub-menu that will include uninstall
Second,go to Control Panel,double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon and loook for Quicktime in the list,if found select and hit the Remove button

I have no problem controlling which image application I use when not on the web. Quicktime has been removed, not the Netscape Quicktime plug-in.

search on a .tif file in the windows explorer window, press shift+r-klik, choose the open with option.
select de desired application you want the .tif to open with, and voila.

The .tif files in question appear on the web; they are not on my system. I have no problem controlling which image application I use when not on the web.

Try this; C:\Program Files\Netscape\Plugins
You should be able to delete it here.

This might work but, regretfully, I do not understand it. First of all, on my system, the Netscape plugins are found at c:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Programs\Plugins; but, more importantly, I do not know what to delete. Quick TimePlugin class was all I found in the location just described.

You can change the file associations in Netscape so that you can open the .TIFF files in Wangimg by opening Netscape browser and then Edit\Preferences\file associations. Choose the file and the application you want the files to open in. Hope this helps.
