I need to rename our domain name because it has the underscore character in it and we cannot install Exchange 2010. It is a small Windows 2003 single domain active directory with Exchange 2003. I have researched the random tool and several documents discussing domain rename. From the threads on this forum, it appears that this is a complex and risky procedure. If I follow the steps in the Step-by-Step Guide to Implementing Domain Rename and the article 842116, Supplemental steps for using the Exchange Server Domain Rename Fixup tool, will this work and what are the risks?
Also can anyone give me an idea of how long this procedure takes?
