Rename a .txt file to a .chm file

By wynne.gibson ·
I recentlly downloaded "Windows XP Device Manager Error Code Help File"
This was a zip file which I unzipped and it contained a .txt file which was to be renamed as a .chm file.
How do I do this?

Here ya go

Hi Wynne,

You have to first set Windows up to show file extensions.
1. Open My Computer.
2. At the top, go to the Tools menu and select Folder Options.
3. Click on the View tab.
4. Remove the check in front of 'Hide extensions for known file types.'
5. Click on Apply and OK.

Now when you right click on the extracted (unzipped) file and choose Rename, you will see the .txt file extension. Just remove the 'txt' and replace it with 'chm', click away from it and you're done.

I hope this helps.
