Renaming a Critical Folder

By Able-Admin ·
I have a folder called "save data here!"

ie. \\computerone\D\save data here!

Just about every user on the network either has a shortcut to this folder or has it mapped to a network drive.

is it possible to rename this folder with a more friendly name without the spaces and punctuation without everyone on the network losing the connection?

You can't rename the old share, but you can add a second share name to the same folder. Then make sure everybodies Icons point to the right folder. Remove the original share when you are sure everyone is switched over. It's always best to use Drive letter mappings as you can control those over a logon script.
