Need help quickly!! I’ll be brief, Have NT4 traditional domain:NT_ABC with (PDC1 & BDC1). Also have W2k Active Directory Domain: w2k_ABC with (DC1 & DC2). Both domains have bi-directional trust relationship.
BDC1 runs native NT4 DNS (zone name: 123.com) and DC1 & DC2 runs DNS integrated with Active directories (Zone name: W2k.com). Both DNS (123.com & w2k.com) servers have secondary zones of each other. (I always get errors there, but let deal with one problem at a time).
What mymanager wants to do (because he thinks working with two zones are cause resolving issues. He wants to get rid of W2k.com and only use 123.com zone. But he wants it on DC1 & DC2 instead of PDC1 & PDC2. If I can’t get rid of W2k.com, he wants me to blow the boxes (DC1 & DC2) away and recreate from scratch. I’m offering a lot of points for the best answer towards solving our situation and NOT blowing boxes away. Oh two more things. BOTH DNSes are very populated with records (dynamically, manually and aliases), so your suggestions should include preserving as much as you can. AND both domains are only internal, not external.
