Renaming files

Its easy enough to rename multiple files on DOS (though you don't mention if he renamed them to a common format or not).

For example, ren *.xls *.bak would rename all XLS (Excel) documents to a Bak extension in that folder. We have a setup for Production where we need to rename all *.bak file in one folder to a common format and then moved to a specific folder for file processing, it is something like:

ren *.bak C*.txt
move C*.txt \\Server1\process
