Amongst many video clips, SOME show only a 'generic' thumbnail FOR A PLAYER rather than for the clip content. Make Video Thumbnails can extract JPGs from (not all) the video clips with extensions like avi, mpg, wmv, swf, flv, etc. So then there are two files with the same name but different extensions (a JPG and a video-extension). How can the video clip file absorb the JPG so that the videoclip will show the image thumbnail, rather than the generic player thumbnail ? OR - how can the original video clip be 'repaired' to show a content-thumbnail ?

You need to convert the form of the file to something that can be displayed as a ThumbNail.
So as here you say that a JPG can not be displayed as a Thumbnail image but another file type does the easy solution is to convert the JPG to something that whatever it is you are using can work with.

Not every video file is conducive to providing a thumbnail.
