Repeated File Protection Message

By TriActServ ·
I get the Windows File Protection Message almost on a daily basis. Slipping in the CD fixes it, but how do I figure out what's causing this to happen every day? Win XP Pro, SP2, networked with 2 other Win XP Pro PC's and 1 Laptop.

how much free hd space?
when was last time you defragged the hd?
i think previous answer sounds good, especially if you don't get the error starting in safe mode. but if no joy, the 'slipping in the CD' fixing it sure sounds like a os that can't load ntldr due to corruption of that file or bad fragmentation of that file.
have you:
1) run chkdsk (it'll take a reboot)
2) defragged (it'll go faster in Safe Mode)
3) if still no joy run System File Checker (see XP Help)
4) googled the dll it it reporting problems with and take the microsoft links you get
and do your Windows Updates...
those shotgun methods to me seem unlikely to fix. but easy to try so why not.
to fix this we need the exact error message.
anything in the event logs?
how do you reproduce the problem. when did it crop up. was it working before what sp?
how do you workaround it when it happens? (reboot?
