Repeater Hub / Switch

by rabbit_runner . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

We have need for ‘repeater’ hub or switch on our network (10/100 – TCP/IP). Currently we have two which are in use. Recently we added on to our network with a different segment. The length of the different wires are 100 meters and 65 meters. There will be handful of PCs at the two ends. None in the middle segment. Because of the distance we have been looking for ‘repeater’ hubs which can amplify the signal before it degrades.

However, in our search, we have not found any hubs or switches, from any manufacturer which reports or indicates any ‘repeating’ capability.

My question is this… Are there still ‘repeater’ hubs / switches being manufactured, OR is the ‘repeating’ feature already built into current hubs and switches? With either, can you point me to any web site or white paper which can fill me in on the details.

This network segment will be completely unusable without the repeaters.

Thanks in advance.
