Replace PERC/CERC RAID Controller on Poweredge 1800

By chad969 ·

I had to replace the Raid controller in my Poweredge 1800 Server running 2003 server, and now when I boot up it says "no boot device available, strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility"

It shows that I have 1 logical drive found on host adapter.

"CERC ATA100/4ch RAID Controller Bios ver 1.03 Jun 10, 2002"

"PERC/CERC Bios configuration utility Ver5a42 Jan 21 2002"

Any ideas that might help?

When you replaced the RAID Card

Did you use the same make & Model Card?

if not you need to reinstall the OS along with the Raid Driver.

Replaced RAID Card

Yes, It is the same Make and Model of card. I am trying to save the data I have on the drives, so if I reloaded the OS, I would overwrite the data... right?

Not if you do a repair install.

That won't overwrite anything but the OS files.

Check the bios of the new card

Even though it's the same card it must be setup like the old one. Get into the bios of the card and check the setting for drive(s) and any RAIDS that were set.
