replacement procedures for netapp fas270c failed disk drive

We had our spare disk fail and the techs tried
the “disk fail ” command…after waiting some time they pulled the drive that is hot swappable…they never got a reply from the command it was ok to remove disk. In putting in the replacement they input the “disk assign “. The problem then is the disk was not recognized and had incorrect ownership. The disk show -v command
sees the disk but the disk show does not. We have tried the many different commands in man options to no avail. Any help at correct command would be appreciated. With the disk installed it is not recognized for that location of spare. Thanks.
