replacing 18g hard drives with 72g drives in a windows 2000 server

By greenc ·
I have a windows 2000 server with a raid setup. i am replacing the 5 18 gig drives with 5 72 gig drives. i have a unitrends disk backup server that will reinstall the server in no time but how do i increase the volume sizes. i have heard that i can use partition magic once the server has been reinstalled and i have also heard that you cannot use partition magic on a windows 2000 server.

Well you can use Partition Magic with a Windows Server

As I had done it on numerous occasions with Resizing RAID Arrays after upping the size of the individual drives.

Depending on the type of RAID you are using things can get complicated though. I try to Clone one of the RAID Disc's and then resize the Disc and then when that is using all of the available HDD rebuild the RAID.

If you are using more than 1 RAID Array on this server though it gets more complicated.
