Thanks in advance for the help!
We have an NT4 network at the office (I know, I’m pushing to upgrade). The old admin had the DMZ’s PDC set up on an NT4 box with Exchange 5.5.
We’re currently having some mail trouble and demoted the mail server to BDC in case it has to go offline.
The promotion/demotion went fine, both the new and old DC’s see each other as they should be (both aggree who is PDC and who is BDC) my only concern is that when you log into a server in the DMZ and run ‘set’ and the commandf promt it shows the DMZ servers as still authenitcating to the OLD PDC (the mail server).
I’m wondering, is there any way to push/pull the DMZ server into authenticating to the new PDC? I know whne a PDC goes offline the other member servers have existing credentials cached for some time, so they can still authenticate without having to talk to the PDC, but when that cach expires or we take the Mail server offline, will these member servers be able to switch over to the new PDC?
Is there any way to test this switch???
Thanks again!
