Replacing win explorer in win xp pro.

By jomasenator ·
Is there a recommended program that will make the job easier?
I find win explorer increases my workload instead of facilitating it.

Win Explorer is confusing and slow, at best

if you want to feel as if you're doing something and also be able to see where things are going try this link:

Once you use either of the products here, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it!

Good luck with it, and enjoy.

It's been my weapon of choice for 13+ years

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Replacing explorer in Win ...

Since the days of Windows for Workgroups 3.11

And I have yet to find a circumstance where I think "I wonder if" or "Maybe if I could just.." or "But if only..." and 2xExplorer hasn't ALREADY got a routine built-in for that specific purpose!

Once you've run it ANYTHING can be customised from the way it looks to the way it behaves.

It's nothing short of amazing.

Enjoy - and as I said, you'll wonder how M$ never did this.

(Edited for historical accuracy.)

I'm with you.
It has a permanent place on my 'New Install' flash drive.
Have you updated to xplorer2 the latest?
There's now a full manual available for d/l.

It's funny... when I read about & installed Vista for the first time, the FIRST thing I looked for was an incorporation of 2xExplorer's dual pane feature. When I saw it wasn't there, I immediately lost interest and went back to XP Pro.

My turn to say "Ditto"

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Ditto

I'd be lost without it, and have been on any other system I've set to work on.

No 2xExplorer, ****! Reach for usb stick - beauty is you don't even need to install it to use it. What amazes me is how stupid WinExplorer is by design.

Whoever thought that a single pane would work?

I also know for a fact that Explorer2 was faced directly with the same fate as Navigator but Nikos Bozinis would not sell. It must stick in Bill Gates' orifices that a freelancer's product beats Microsoft hands-down!

My experience with Vista is a mirror-image of yours.

My only sadness is that Explorer2 returned to using the MS search engine. I now run both versions (2xExplorer and Explorer2) although the new build, rather spookily, treats the old build the same way as XP treats DOS!!!

Edited to insert an ' into Bill Gates!
