Reset BIOS Now missing Operating system

By goalie2 ·
Folks, I have a Dell XPS DC00 running Windows Vista Buisness. The dvd-rw was not working so after doing all the dell tests and uninstalling the device it still would not recognise I decided to reset the NVRAM in the BIOS by using ALT-F & ALT-E.

Now on bootup it tells me that the operating system is missing. I am running vista install dvd but it does not see the hard drive there as i tried using the system restore function from the cd.

How can I get the Bios to pickup the old OS? Please don't tell me that I have wiped the harddrive?

Cheers
Derek.

You need to enter the BIOS and change the SATA Drive setting

To Legacy. That way the system will see the SATA HDD and will now be able to see the OS on it.

Col,

I needed to set the SATA drive to RAID-ON. Works fine now.
