Reset Switch

By Casemaker ·
Hi,
I built a new PIII 933 running W98 Second edition. When I hit the reset button it restarts and scandisk runs. I dont remember this happening on other systems. I have reversed the switch in case it was backwards but same results. Is there a solution or is this the norm?
Thank You

The reset is the norm to run scandisk, because the system is not shut down properly. The orientation does not matter, you can use msconfig to reconfigure scandisk not to run after bad shut down.Go to Start,in Run box type msconfig,on the General tab, click on the Advanced button, uncheck the box to run scandisk after bad shutdown

A better solution would be to just reset the system with the Start menu. You'll lose a few seconds over hitting the reset button (which is instant), but you'll probably get them back by not waiting for Scandisk to finish. And it's kinder to the OS.
