Resolution difference on connecting to projector

By C.Y.D.A. ·
good day.

Some of my co-workers and I have a minor but annoying problem.

When we connect our laptops to a projector and switch to presentation view, our resolution on our screen drops and messes up our desktop.

For instance, my resolution is 1280 x 800. As I connect to a projector, my resolution drops to 1024 x 768 (max) to match the display on the projector.

My question is: is it possible to keep the resolution on my screen, while having a different resolution on the projector? Whether its a clone view or dual screen. Or shut off my LCD screen and not change the resolution or something, so that my icons and stuff don't get rearranged?

If you have a Dual Screen setup

You can run different Screen Resolutions on the different screens in this case one being the NB Monitor and the other being the projector.

But if you are cloning the screen it needs to run at the highest Display that the lowest Resolution Display Device can run at and will change to this whenever a new device is turned on.

nice. I will try this. thanks

also....:
I believe that when i use WMplayer11 in full screen, it shows full in the 2nd screen and normal on the main screen (my laptop.)
This was in clone view.
Would this be applicable as well in dual... and for MS PowerPoint?

It should be

The displays are the limiting factor here as they can not be overridden by software.
