Restore print sharing

By skat ·
In a two computer network through a 3Com Gateway, after a damage to one hard disk on computer A, now cannot restore print sharing. What are the specific steps to take to restore? Error message at computer B seems to indicate it doesn't see computer A.

You have to reinstall your networking components first and make sure you have connectivity between the workstations. If you need help on this, you will need to give more details - what OS's your workstations are running and what networking protocols you are using. Hope this helps!

Answer 1 sounds spot on, just remember to add the File Print sharing components otherwise it may start to share (well you can type a name etc) then you will get an error, just a thought

The two computers are connected as indicated by the icon in the system tray. However, with this Gateway (3Com 3C510), the printer sharing must be enabled before the networking between the computers can be enabled. My problem is in getting the printers shared. This is a Win2000 Prof SP4 OS. Each computer has a 3Com 3C905B nic.
Both computers are connected to a 3Com Gateway (3C510).

In the host, the printer is set to share. If the port is set to USB, I can print from the host. If the port is set to PRT Mate as is required by the Gateway, I cannot print from the host. Either way I cannot print from the client.
