My XP proessional computer got stolen. I had it backed-up on an external hard drive using the windows back-up and restore program. I now have a Windows 7 professional computer. I have loaded the NT-Backup software from windows. The only way I can get the excel password protected file to restore to any machine is to use the advanced function in the windows restore program and uncheck the security button. However, when I try to open the restored file I get an error message saying I don’t have permission. I have changed the permission but that does not work. So how can I restore this excel file without having the original computer?
