Restoring an Archive file to Outlook

Help! I made an Archive file from MS-Outlook-2000 a week ago & it cleared all my folders. Now I can’t restore the archive to see the folders. I’ve followed the procedure in Outlook Help, but it refuses to accept the file. How can I get my messages back??
