The easiest way is to edit the registry and require alternate logon credentials for any non-Administrator who tries to install software. See this link for more info:

http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/1062/

Another way is to set up local policies to prevent software installation. This is a bit more complicated and requires reviewing the policies on a regular basis. See this link for more information:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/prodtech/winclnt/secwinxp/xpsgch03.mspx

You could also get various commercial apps to do this too. See this link for more info on
WinXP Manager:

Cheers.

i assum that u have windows XP

by default there are 2 users one is Administrator
and other one is Guest

u give a password to administrator and whenever u log into system use as Admin login
and allow others to use guest.

so whenever u start ur pc automatically GUEST will be ur default login. for this try following command

start ---> run---> and then type
control userpasswords2

one sceen will appear.
just click on Guest login
and then clear the chk box of top and then click ok

there are some other option read them carefully
and incase u want to reduce the right of guest u can do it....

i guess this is best solution...
