Resume installation after Reboot

By vengalamseshu ·
Hi All,

Does anybody have any information how to resume installation after rebooting.

My Scenario is like this: I need to install some Services along with my Installer and this services requires a reboot.
First I'll install this Service and reboot the machine then I need to launch my installer after rebooting immediately.

Does anybody have any information on this,

Please share some information related to this.

Thanks in Advance

What system do you have? There may be a huge difference between WinXPHome, Win7-64 and Linux...

And: What are you trying to install.
When many installers request reboot, that's because they want to do a part of the installation BEFORE the system is fully loaded again.

Or, are you trying to configure an automatic installation package for something you have created? In that case, What tools are you planning to use, what target systems are you looking at and how fool-proof a result do you need?

When I did this...

Just before restarting, I'd drop a shortcut with a command line to my install EXE in the computers "all users" "startup" folder. On Execution of this command line, the install would continue where it left off, and delete that shortcut.

My Commandline was basically this

Installer.exe /Resume 101

Where it could range from 101 to 400 depending on which install and which stage of the install it was on.
