Retail Nightmares Anyone

By 14ME24U ·
As a System Builder we decided to get into the new Water Cooled Computers and so we ordered a Water Cooling System over the Internet about 2.5 months ago(paid via paypal). We were promised delivery in 2-3 weeks. We still havent got the system parts, the guy who owns the store wont answer our emails and if we manage to get his store via the Land Line he says he was out of the country or away for a couple of weeks and the order is on the way. Since our 30 days are past for Credit Card Refund we are now stuck. This is annoying that one small Retail Person can get away with this without any repercussions.

There are ways

PayPal must have some dispute mechanism - use it.

You can also find the vendor's Better Business Bureau. Write them a letter, copy the vendor.

Pay Pal

They do have a complaints centre which we took advantage of and they are now investigating the company. So far as what will happen with the loss who knows. They of course wont commit until they are done investigation. Dont get me wrong. Its not Pay Pals fault in any way. They have been helpful. Its just the fact that the shop owner has been dishonest..we are not from US so recourse is very difficult.. and the whole thing is bad for business.

Better Business Bureau

by James R Linn In reply to Pay Pal

The Better Business Bureau has a somewhat tarnished reputation, but can be an effective tool if used effectively.

You can find the name of the local chapter through some of the web based directories. By writing the Bureau and copying the vendor, you are showing the vendor that you are serious and that there may be consequences to their reputation if they don't resolve the issue.

BBB

by 14ME24U In reply to Better Business Bureau

That is done but thanks anyway. Personally I think the Internet should have a list of Retailers who arent honest (can be proven to be dishonest) for all to see. Maybe then they would think twice about it. BBB is great but the problem is most of the time the dishonest people are already on the receiving end of the BBB so they really dont care.
