Retaining mapped network drives while of

by msirois . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I discovered that Windows 2000 Pro retains the list of previously mapped drives (via login script) while offline. I found this to be a nice feature when using Offline Files and Folders and the synchronization process. Since I have implemented this on my mobile user’s laptops, it has been working great. I am able to maintain a database of offline files and access them through the mapped drive in My Computer.I now have 2 users that once had this functionality that no longer do. Now, when they areoffline, My Computer only reveals the local drives, no previously mapped drives. If these users want to access synchronized files while offline, they can’t see the drive nor can they use My Documents folder (redirected to a network drive mapping) toaccess their files.I understand that for the purposes on the My Documents folder, a UNC should be used rather than a script mapped drive letter but this will only allow them access to the contents of that folder. We synchronize more than just the contents of My Documents so either a shortcut needs to be created on the desktop using a UNC or they need to be able to use previously mapped drives to get to the files. Does anyone know why 2K pro will loose its list of previously mapped drives?
