Retrieving data from old Novell external

By alee ·
i had a novel 4.0.x as an old backup server. it has internal HDD for sys and external scsi HDD for vol. lately, this old faithful machine would not boot as the internal hdd had crashed (funny noise when i power it up). i do have the Novell installation disk, but i do not have bootable dos diskettes. therefore i could not install novell anywhere else. hoping that the external hdd (vol) are fine, i have pluck it into a nt server with sp6a. through the disk administrator, it could not read the disk format (unknown). any way or hope i could retrieve data? regards

Sorry to be the one to say this but the only way would be to reinstall Novell on another server and mount that External drive array. Then copy the data to your NT Server.

If what you whant to do is recover the data on the external HD you can use Captain Nemo from http://www.runtime.org/. You can Read, copy, access, view and search Neware volumes from Windows 98, NT or 2000. There is also a DOS version.
