retrieving lost images

I wonder is someone could help me — I had some photos (about 3) that I accidentally sent to the recycle bin, and instead of hitting “restore” for some reason I just selected them all, hit “cut” and then tried to paste them on my Desktop (I’m using Windows XP, if that matters).When I tried pasting it, I got some sort of message (which I forget now) saying that it “couldn’t be read” or something like that. And I lost those photos, which I really wanted to keep. I tried using “File Rescue Plus” but it couldn’t restore them for me. Any suggestions?
