    Returned Mail: delivery problems encountered

    Locked

    by jodelvalle ·

We have a client who can receive e-mails from our company, but when she tries to reply to the e-mails, she gets the following message:

The following addresses had delivery problems:

    Permanent Failure: Other address status

She can email us and we can email her, she only gets the error when she replies to ANY of our emails.

We are running Exchange 2003 SP 2 on a Windows 2000 server.

I finally got a copy of the returned mail. For confidentiality reasons, some of the info has been change. This is how it looks like:

Is she the only one who is having the problem? Looking at the error chunk I’ve SNIPed, it looks like your system can’t hold the email she’s trying to send. Check the size of the email she’s trying to send, the mail box size of the receiver, and your system’s default email box size.

There is somebody who has a similar problem, but I have checked into it.

I try replying with her email with no attachment and I’m still getting the same error, so I’m not sure that it could be the size of the email. She’s accessing her email through her ISP’s webmail.

How can I check mail the box size of the receiver, and my system’s default email box size?

What else you think might cause this issue?

Check her isp webmail site it sounds as if the mail box might need a clean out.

Since I use GroupWise, not Exchange, I didn’t have a clue. So, I Googled “Exchange 2003 SP2” and “set mail box size” and first found the M$ Exchange web page:
      http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/default.mspx

I then queried M$’ knowledge base with a few iterations of the same and found the HOW TO: Configure Storage Limits on Public Folders in Exchange 2003:
      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823144/en-us

It will be slow-going, but *you* need to read thru this to find your answer.

You might try Googling “552 REPLY:” and “552_Requested_mail_action_aborted:” as well.
