Is anyone out there involved in reverse auctioning support services? Recent “let’s save more money” conversations by the business group I support have resulted in them “suggesting” that they should reverse auction support/depot repair services for handheld RF terminals in an effort to drive down costs. I maintain that factory support, as long as the pricing is competitive, is clearly desirable, and that reverse auctioning support services for critical systems is like shopping for your next heart surgeon based on least-cost evaluations.
I would appreciate some feedback on this issue. Am I behind the times? Is someone else out there successfully doing this? If so, what issues have you faced?
Thanks,
Mr L
