Reviving Inkjet Printheads

By Damian Colden ·
What is the best way to revive an inkjet printhead? This printhead/cartridge combination has been in a printer that has not seen a lot of acitvity for awhile.

Reviving Inkjet Printheads

by Lo In reply to Reviving Inkjet Printhead ...

Hi - This is an abreviated summary from Mr. Inkjet (refillable for an HP 400/500 series 51626A black). I haven't tried it, filled my color after it went dry befor I read the note (same/similar on color instructions).

Soak in solution of 1/2 distiled water and 1/2 ammonia for 4 hrs. Enough to cover head 1/4". NO mixture to touch elect contact on side. Soak overnight recommended for badly clogged. After soak, use mixture of ammonia sprayed on paper towel to dap head clean. I am going to try it 'soon' when my color goes out again.

I have always just used a Q-tip and Isopropyl alcohol. Soak the Q-tip and gently clean the head until all dried ink is gone. Done scrub the head. If you have a stubborn spot just soak the printhead in a little alcohol for about 1 min then try to clean again. After you are done dry with a paper towel then put back in printer.

I has always worked for me on both HP & Canon

Soaking in alcohol overnight didn't even help. Thanks for response though.
