I am looking for info, on sharing a word document.
1) There are two computers, one uses Wd2000 and the other uses Wd2003.
2) The document was created in Wd2000.
– Shared this file and the table file so the user using Wd2003 can help in the absence of the other user.
3) Pieces to the document are:
1 – Word document with placeholders:
Open this document, select “Edit data source”, in the popup windows select “Add New”, fill in the info, select “close”, then “Merge to New Document”, print this document, close this document. With this being done, there is a table document that the info is appended to, so they will have a running record of every case.
This process works all the way upto where it is time to close the opening document, this is where it says “Read Only” in the title bar and it wants to rename the original file in order to save the info and to have it added to the table file.
I have given as much authority to the Wd2003 user as I could find, not only on the computer side but also to the two files and now matter what on the Wd2003 “read only” and save with another name is the only option, but there can be 25 to 30 entries a day, what am I over looking?
Thanks for anyone’s help.
