RIMM!!!

The memory module used with RDRAM chips.

It is similar to a DIMM package but uses different pin settings.

Rambus trademarked the term RIMM as an entire word.

It is the term used for a module using Rambus technology.

It is sometimes incorrectly used as an acronym for Rambus Inline Memory Module.

RIMM - abbreviation for Rambus Inline Memory Modules @ also known as Rambus Dynamic Read Access Memory (RDRAM). Used in Pentium3 using i820 chipsets (Camino chipsets - another name fot i820 chipsets), & Pentium4 using i850 & i850e chipsets. Minimum memory installed are 64MB for i820(1 socket installed with 64MB and another socket with RIMM contimuity module) & 128MB for i850&i850e (2 sockets installed with 64MB each & another 2 sockets with RIMM contimuity module). As I concern there are 4 types of RDRAM :
PC600(333MHz), PC700, PC800(400MHz), PC1600(533MHz). The differences between them are the bus speed.
Important thing to know when installing RIMM:
*i820 chipsets consist 2 RIMM sockets & it allows RIMM installed with different capacity but same in bus speed.
Eg: RIMM 1 installed with 64MB PC800
RIMM 2 installed with RIMM contimuity module.
If you wish to populate RIMM 2, the memory used should be PC800 also but with different size(128MB, 256MB).

i850&i850e chipsets consist 4 RIMM sockets.
Eg: RIMM 1 installed with 64MB PC800
RIMM 2 installed with 64MB PC800
RIMM 3 installed with RIMM contimuity module.
RIMM 4 installed with RIMM contimuity module.

If you wish to populate RIMM 3&4, the memory used should be PC800 also but with different size(128MB, 256MB).
