Roaming profiles

We just installed a server upgrade on a Windows 2000 native network with 16 workstations. The roaming profiles are not working. I’ve tried pathing the profiles to \\servername\profiles and c:\profiles and neither work. Therefore I’ve been following users around mapping drives,setting desktops, and e-mail settings. What do I do?
