Roaming Profiles

By macsuavity ·
I am setting up a network of 25 NT workstations with 250 users and I have stumbled across a problem. I have set up roaming profiles for my users but the problem appears to be that Internet Explorer settings do not seem to be set. If I logon as anyuser and set IE 5 to point to our proxy then logoff, then logon again at another machine then the settings are ok. Do I have to do this for every user? Should I be copying a good profile to somewhere, then making every user point to that good profile? I feel I am going round in circles at the moment. Any help would be greatly apreciated as I am on a very steep learning curve at the moment. Many thanks

Roaming Profiles

As I can make out there are two possible answers to this question, depending on how far you have got with signing on as users.

1) If you have only just set them up

You can create 1 'good' profile can copy this to the default user profile, wheneach user signs on for the FIRST time they will take the setting from here, they will also take them from here if you delete their profile .

2) You can also extract the location from a set, regestry and then use a login script to change the values of other users regestry settings. If you are not sure how to do this you are best advised to use option 1

Hope this helps

Using option 1 above, it would then be easy to write a batch file to go around and copy the default profile to all workstations on your network.
