    Roaming Users Problem

    Locked

    by azamup ·

    Hi All!

I have NT4 PDC Servers with their BDCs as well in 4 diff. locations with the diff. local domains connected through 64K DXX link with the load of about 120 nodes on each location. All servers have 2 way trust relationship and DHCP, WINS, DNS configured.

The problem is the DXX link speed between the servers is 2 slow & traffic is 2 high. The roaming users got really stuck when they want to access their outlook from exchange 5.5 remotely. They have to every time login into the remote NT server and opens their inbox through outlook using this 64K DXX only link. Kindly advice some solutions that can help to logon these users in even from any site look like they are getting login into their local domain. if the solution is the roaming profile than kindly tell me the way how 2 configure it on my server for all roaming users.

Looking 4 some good favorable solution

    Regards,

    Azam Noor

You don’t mention if you have Internet access from these sites or not. If you have Internet access at all or even some of these sites, you might want to look into setting up Outlook Web Access at the site where the Exchange Server resides. This would allow your remote users to log on to the Internet from the remote offices and access their Exchange mailbox that way rather than using your 64K line. Depending upon the speed of the Internet access at each site, this might be a lot faster for them. Also depending upon the type of use they make of Outlook – there are some limitations to OWA. Good info on setting up Outlook Web Access with Exchange 5.5 can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/technet, and search for Outlook Web Access. Hope this helps!
