anyone had a problem in xp w/rolling cpu usage. 2%, 3%, 14% 40% 70% then 100%. sits on 100 for a few seconds and cycles back to zero then repeats in about 5 -6 second cycles killed everything in the background except essentials….. no difference. run virus, trojan adware w/latest definition updates and it’s clean. virtual memory used appears small. eventually the usage increases when running multiple programs and the pc slows down to the point it’s hardly functional.. wait 4-5-6 seconds for a window change or a calc or to open a doc….it’s a 2ghz laptop w/2ghz memory… normally runs fast…tried resetting virtual memory but the change won’t lock on reboot. seen several solutions on forums but nothing solves it ….. everything from formatting the drive to reloading windows. it’s something that appears like a bug and is running when the pc is running…..thoughts would be appreciated…
