If it's a new setup, I would say to , after shutting everything off, try resetting the chips in the sockets , things come lose , while you are at it attempt to seat everything to make sure of the connections, if you haven't done this before, take itto a shop. If it's a new problem , on a old machine (One thats been in use for some time) likely one or more of the chips have died, but just to be sure , replace the battery , as that holds the bios on a rom , if it goes dead , no data. Hopefully it's the battery. Luck

It sounds like you may have a small problem with your drive. That error occurrs in the newer system's only when your MBR is bad or distroyed. You are going to need to rebuild your drive and restore from backup, unless you can find a bootable drive elsewhere and still you may not be able to recover anything from that partition

This message will come up when the bios cannot find a bootable disk, you will need to set the doot drive to active, using FDISK /MBR
with a boot disk should clear this up or use the Fdisk to set drive to active

You need to set an active partition by using fdisk. After you run fdisk, option 2 should allow you to set an actie partition.
