Route for Dual Nics

By dennisbv ·
I have a Box that I want to act as sort of a firewall/sniffer and I am a little unsure on how to route from one nic to the other on the same machine. Example One nic traffic comes from Internet roter. Nic two is connected to the Lan.
How would I set this up to pass traffic from the internet to the Lan and from the Lan to the internet.

If you are running windows 2000 server or windows 2003 server, simply run "Routing and Remote Access" setup and follow the prompts.

If you are running Win2k Pro or XP, there is an option that you can set on your internal nic called "internet connection sharing". This will reset the internal IP to a 192.168.1.x address, so you will need to follow that IP schema, but it works.
