router configuration

I have been trying to set up routing using rip on my windows 2000 server. When ever I place a second nic in the computer my DNS server settings automaticly try to use the new nic instead of the one i have bound for DNS. If i pull the card out the settings go back to the origional. Does any one know why this happens.
