    Router Error detected

    Locked

    by jcolome ·

I just installed my first 4.1 Netware server and I keep getting this message at the console level:

Router configuration error detected node 006097099bed claims network f0f83e7c should be d50cc389.

Anyone have any idea what this means ???

    Thank you!

One of two answers that I have found with this type of message. The fist scenario involves windows 95/98 workstations acting like servers. If the file sharing and print sharing is not configure correctly on these computers that I have found I get these error messages on the console of select servers (ie 4.x and >). If this is the problem, locate the PCs and shut either shut off the file and print sharing or reconfigure it. If you have a NW file server installed, these users should not be sharing via Peer-to-Peer anyway. THis is a breach of your network, backup, and security plans. My guess it is a windows 95/98 machine acting like a server. I think it could also be a improperly configured WinNT server/workstation also.

The second may be a bit simpler, maybe. I am assuming that this is not your first netware server on your network. Another server is configured with a network address different that the NW4.1 just installed. Check all the NW server’s Net address and compare to the NW4.1 just i

Thanks for your input. The problem was that I was using the wrong NIC drivers.

Here you go !! I believe the previous poster mis-understood your question. this is from support.novell.com. good luck .

Error: “IPXRTR-6.50-4 Router configuration detected. Node [node address] [name] claims network [network number] should be [network number].”

Error: “Router configuration error detected Node [node address] [name] claims network [network number] should be [network number]”

      ——————————————————————————–
      Cause
A router configuration error is generated when a server receives a RIP (Router Information Protocol) or SAP (Service Advertising Protocol) packet with an incorrect network address in it. RIP packets are used to advertise network numbers, both the internal network number for the server and the external network numbers that are set on the server when IPX is bound to the LAN card. The line for an external network number looks like this: BIND IPX TO NE2000 NET = [network number]. SAP packets are used to advertise services
