On a NT server 4 sp6 run network sits a Cisco760 router wich is DDR to a remote site, Randomly the network slows. If the Router is removed there is no slow up,can any one help is it the router config or the server settings that are having the fit?

I would put a scanner on the net and watch it. If you can get a copy of the old SMS eval disk, there is a scanner on there which is NOT limited to traffic to and from its own workstation (as is the one supplied with NT).
Possibility 1: someone atyour remote site is moving megabytes fo data periodically. If you disconnect the router at the far end, do you still get the slowing?
Possibility 2: If the far end is attached to the internet, you may be getting routes advertised over your link. You might try turning off all RIP in the router and giving it static routes to your network(s) only.
Possibility 3: If you have a BDC or WINS server or SQL server at the remote site, you may be seeing replication traffic (especially if you are using roaming profiles).
Possibility 4: This is related to route advertisments. If your DNS server is not on your lan, the router could be advertising a route that your computer thinks is faster to your DNS server. This would cause traffic to the DNS server to take the (actually slower) route until the routers straighten themselves out.
Does your event log show anything special at the times you are slow?
Thanks for the answer, it was discovered that the site was misleading me, as they did not have a dedicated line for the router. This meant that if we were lucky, the router could only grab one channel (it was configured for two). This caused the thing to throw a wobbler and usually disconnect.
Although your answer did not directly help me with the above problem, we are using SQL Server, and when checked, was found to be replicating more data than was needed.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
