I have a private network with 245 devices connected to it. As you can tell we’re running out of IP addresses on that subnet.
What i would like to do is begin to divide the company network into two subnets. Example.. 192.168.0.X and 192.168.1.X
We have a Server with two gigabit network cards running Windows Server 2003. I’ve set up routing and remote access before to accomplish this task but it was a number of years ago and i seem to be having trouble getting it to work correctly. The server runs DHCP and DNS for the 192.168.0.X network as well as functioning as a file server. The 192.168.1.X clients would be statically assigned IP addresses.
So i was wondering if anyone had a good link or can help me remember how to configure that server to allow comuters on the 192.168.0.X network to talk to the computers on the 192.168.1.X network without adding additional addresses to the client computers.
Everything i’ve found online explains how to configure RRAS for VPNs. I don’t care about that, i just want the two networks to talk to each other without having multiple static IP addresses on the clients.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Even if there is something other using the Windows server, we are possibly looking at getting a Cisco VPN/Firewall so i won’t be able to add a Cisco router as well to the bill. But if there are Linux solutions i’m willing to look at those as a second option.
