a Travel Tech note

by in4me In reply to Roy's Techno-notes

I recently had to travel to <?xml:namespace prefix =" st1" ns =" "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"" />Mexico to do some consultant work for an American based non profit organization. This project required that I be using a lot of Internet base resources like e-mail, Instant Messages, download and upload files and schechdle appointments online so my supporting people would know how to support this particular project.<?xml:namespace prefix =" o" ns =" "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"" />

on my way to Mexico i had to wait for four hours at Houston airport. I thought, great I should had enough time to advance some of my work.

When I finally was getting ready to settle to work at the airport at <st1:time hour="18" minute="0">6 o'clock</st1:time> in the morning, just to find that all the power outlets were already taken, so I had to relay on my battery power, wish I did.

Next I tray to establish a wifi connection, to my surprise there were 7 wireless networks abiable at the spot of the airport were i was. All I needed was one that would support My ATT SBC wifi rooming services. I started trying one by one until finally i found one that would work with my service just to find out that the systems log on wouldn't accept my password. So I was left to work on battery power and no internet connection.

I did ok on my project but now I wonder If there are ways to make sure i will get internet access on the road other than paying the usage fee at the airline lounge room at the airports.

I share this note just to see if any one has a similar experience and may be some one has better suggestions.
