RPC Server is unavailable

By alex ·
I have one server (srv1) in my domain running Win 2K Advanced Server. I added a second server (srv2) also running Win 2K Advan Srv and I am trying to transfer the operations roles from srv1 to srv2. I first need to connect to the Domain Controller and when I try, it gives me the error:

"The domain controller srv2.corp.domainname.com was not validated because: The RPC Server is unavailable."

What do I need to do in order to connect to it?

The end result I am looking for is to get rid of srv1 and transfer all the roles to srv2 so it can act as the domain controller and login server.

Please help! Thanks a lot!

Alex

1. Check you are servers having any viruses.
Example; Blaster worm, nachi....
2. Are you logging and fast (Not slow) in a domain in second domain controller.
3. Are you connect to primary domain controller from sec. domain controller with any admin tools
4. Check NS records for secondary domain controller ind dns server (in your domain zone)

And send your importannt event message in system and directory event(With Event id).
