I own the 3090 and have had second thoughts. That is, it’s great and all but I had to tweak it down a little to make it work smoothly and to reduce it’s power consumption.
Truth be told, I had the 3070 before this and for a single monitor I didn’t see any performance gain from the 3070 to the 3090. In fact the 3070 feels like the right model for me (single monitor) because I didn’t have to do the tweaking to get power consumption and smooth gameplay on the 3070.
In my opinion, the RTX 4090 is the greatest graphics card available right now, however if we take the price and the previous model, the RTX 4080 16 GB,
The RTX 4080 16 GB performs about 28% worse than the RTX 4090 when DLSS 3 is deactivated. However, when temporal upscaling is enabled, the framerate rises to the average FPS of RTX4090.
Overall, the RTX 4080 is a very capable card for 4K gaming without any compromises at a decent framerate. It is also $400 cheaper than the 4090. Additionally, it is more power-efficient and is physically smaller, which means it will fit in most cases.
