“Run” and “Search” command missing

using window xp home so i cant use gpedit.msc or something. also i try properties on taskbar customise and so on but there arent the box for me to check. So i guess the only option left is regedit, anyone tell me if this would work?

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\StartMenuRun

and should be a DWORD value where the value itself should be hexadecimal 1
