Rundll error after install Nvidia driver

By jsarinana ·
After updating my Nvidia driver off of M.S. Windows Update site I'm getting a "Rundll c:\Winnt\System32\NVCpl.dll error".
What would be the solution here ?
Uninstall and re-install old driver ? I did this and i still get the error message. If I need to delete/un-install all Nvidia drivers complete, how ? and should I install the new one ?
Anyone gone through this yet ?

Thanks

NVidea drivers shouldn't be downloaded from Microsoft Update. Is you card an NVIDEA card or is it another manufacturers card with the NVIDEA chipset on it?

If it is NVIDEA's card, go here:

If it is another manufacturers card, you will need to go to their website and get their drivers.
ie: If a VisionTek card with NVIDEA GForce chipset you will need to go to Visiontek's website.

sorry, don't agree. never had any trouble with drivers off microsoft website. heh heh (looking over shoulder nervously). i googled 'nvcpl.dll' and got bunches of hits. lots of folks having this problem. suggested fixes which apparently have worked for folks include:
updating motherboard BIOS
installing older version of nvcpl.dll (no, i don't know where to get one)
if this were XP i'd say restore earlier restore point...
tell us more. upgrade os's recently? added other stuff besides? scanner? what is your motherboard?

download the correct and latest drivers from the appropriate manufacturer. just cuz it's nvidia chipset doesn't mean you go to nvidia website. you need to go to the manufacturer's website. after that, go into safe mode, uninstall drivers. reboot, and then install the downloaded file.
