rundll.exe problems

By lnlcomputers ·
"system\rundll\bridge.exe can't be found" shows up after I deleted malware, viruses, etc, on every boot. A leftover from some bad ware. How do I solve this? If I delete rundll, will it regenerate? Is this a windows critical file? Running XP Pro.

actually it's system32\bridge.exe and the comment is "can't find bridge.exe"

The file bridge.exe was removed, hence message, but a starup item is still trying to run it. Run msconfig and look for a startup item containing bridge.exe and uncheck it.

If it doesn't exist in startup items, then it is in registry and must be deleted from registry. Go there only if experienced in searching and editing registry entries.

It is an annoyance, not a problem since malware was removed. File is part of WinFavorites adware.

I agree with one but I would not know where to look in regedit I would recommend if you know the name of the virus by going to google and looking it for the Norton website fix. You delete want to back the reg up before you make any change. If you just want the quick fix you can uncheck the box in the msconfig but you will still have it in the reg. To fully fix the problem I recommend do the Google search. If you do not know the virus, you can use the bridge file to find it on Google. Hope this help. If you delete you will probably have to reinstall the XP
